Six weeks and I’m off on my adventure. The countdown begins. There is still some details to attend that are keeping me busy. Since this is my first trip out of North America, I want to thank many of you who have provided me with travel advice and stories.
As many of you know, I am a planner. I write lists. I outline. So it’s no surprise that I have a detailed itinerary. After all, I need to go where my characters go, follow the action, experience the thrills, chills, and romance of the story. What is surprising—and disconcerting—is I am renting a vehicle and traveling to small villages, stone dances, and burial sites all over Ireland; therefore, I have not reserved lodging for each night. Not knowing the amount of driving time—or learning to drive from the wrong side of the car & road—would hinder my itinerary and thus my experience. I am leaving this part of the trip up to fate. Well, not completely. I have several B & B’s listed with contact info for each village or town in which I’d like to stay. I just hope I don’t end up sleeping in the passenger seat of the two-door compact I rent. That would undoubtably add to my adventure.
Look for my travel tales and photos of Ireland beginning in May.
